good day to everyone!!! I’m new here and I just join the forum.

I'm a graphic designer and sometimes I think I can design some furniture and other fixtures.I think I can use my skills in designing furniture because last days my daughter keep on asking me if I can make those unique styles of beanbag chair with different cartoon character layout that her playmate bought.

I need some advise how to start with this new idea of mine.

Here is an awesome website with directions, dimensions for children's sizes and adult sizes and printable patterns. They have others DIY there, from beanbags to electrical problem like fixing a pendant lights, they have it.

Have fun and let us know how you do :)

  3. I would think that the easiest way to start designing furniture would be to hook up with a manufacturing company that already has certain capabilities in place. You would then be able to focus on the design aspect rather than have to worry about creating the furniture also.

A good method would be to look for companies that are OEM manufacturers. Most of these have very little internal design capabilities, as they inherently build other peoples products and designs, not their own.

A downside may be that they would require certain volumes in order to go into production, or a sizeable prototyping fee up front.

I suggest, browse some furniture magazine.
Make list of the manufacturer that passed to your taste you want to.

  5. go to ikea with a ruler and start from these dimensions an check online on many web sites to get good ideas
